Nathan Explosion of DETHKLOK Metalocalypse on [adult swim] July 2008 Dethklok is the most brutal band in existance, they have limitless wealth and millions (billions?) of fans but unfortunately they are confined to the two dimensional realm of their animated show. As a big fan of Metalocalypse I thought it would be particularly BRUTAL to bring the characters to life, so I decided to make a costume of the only character I could pull off, Nathan Explosion. The costume was simple but not necessarily recognizable on its own so I decided to make some of the props from the show, including the Dethphone and a bottle of Explosion Sauce. ::: Costume This was the easiest costume I've ever put together. I dyed a white t-shirt black instead of using a black shirt so I could get the proper faded color. The pants are a pair of dark blue Dickie's and the boots are my cheap vinyl Vader boots. ::: Dethphone and other props I made my Dethphone out of craft wood, a dowel rod, some chain and floral wire. This version had to be made in under a week so several compromises had to be made in its design, including a print out for the keypad as opposed to individual, raised keys. Also, the surface of the blades, sculpted out of patching plaster, did not survive its first convention outing. These problems and more will be rectified in the next version.
