Anakin Skywalker, Jedi General Star Wars: The Clone Wars October 2008 Initially I wasn't very impressed with Anakin's new costume design in The Clone Wars. The traditional shades of brown were replaced with blue-grey and burgandy and the mismatched gloves really put me off. However, once I saw it in action in the feature film my opinion quickly changed. I suppose I needed to see it in context to truly appreciate it. Like my previous Clone Wars costume, I decided to make the costume as it would appear in real life as opposed to making it look like the animation. This allowed me to reuse the boots, belt and pants from my other Anakin outfits. The gloves were purchased but all of the other new parts, including the tunics, armor and pouches, were made by me. This costume was finished for Halloween 2008. ::: Chest Armor I received help on my armor from my friend Dan Bergren, who had built his own set for his TCW Obi-Wan costume. He took his templates, made them slightly larger to fit me and then cut the pieces out of 1/8" thick sintra. After forming them to my shoulders it was up to me to do all the filling, sanding, assembly and painting. I split the chest armor into ten pieces and lined the inside with stretchy brown material, which allows the pieces to split and come back together like in the show. ::: Outer and Inner Tunics My outer tunic was made out of a dark blue-grey material and cut so the bottoms came to a point in the front and back and curved up over the knee on the sides. It was also made in two parts, sewn at the waist, to make it look seamless. The inner tunic is a simple t-tunic with a long body. The burgundy material is stretchy and allows for a great range of movement. ::: Belt and Pouches The belt is my base Anakin belt with most of the accessories removed. I made the TCW pouches out of sheet plastic and foamies for coverings. ::: Boots My boots have been made in full leather, custom fit to my measurements. They stand 19" tall, not including the rubber sole. ::: Lightsaber My "hero" lightsaber is the limited edition replica produced my Master Replicas in 2005.
