Dethphone (July 2008)

A Dethklok costume could not possibly be complete without the most brutal cellphone ever created, the Dethphone. With eleven blades along the sides, thirty-five spikes lining the case and a three-pronged hook at the end of a dangling chain it's more than just a communications device, it's a #*$#in weapon.

I made my Dethphone out of craft wood, a dowel rod, some chain and floral wire. This version had to be made in under a week so several compromises had to be made in its design, including a print out for the keypad as opposed to individual, raised keys. Also, the surface of the blades, sculpted out of patching plaster, did not survive its first convention outing. These problems and more will be rectified in the next version.
