Power Morpher/Coin Display Case (November 2008)
From the TV show Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

The coolest Power Ranger toy was, without a doubt, the original Power Morpher and coins. It looked, felt and worked like the ones on the show because it was virtually identical to the props, which were relabeled Japanese toys. When I got rid of my Power Ranger stuff it was one of the few things I just couldn't let go.

I've always wanted to make a nice display case that looked like it might belong on the show. In one episode, where the teens had to give up their power coins to save their parents, they used a fancy wooden box with green satin lining to store the coins. That episode always made an impression on me, so much that as a kid I stored my power coins in a necklace case my mom had given me.

So, to construct this display case I found an antique-looking box and made some custom foam inserts and covered them in green felt. The inserts hold the coins and morphers snugly. The morphers themselves have been repainted and the silver morpher has had screen-accurate labels applied. I have not finished the Green Ranger's (gold) morpher yet.

I've also made another case built to hold one morpher and five coins. The wooden case has been painted a glossy black and has red felt-lined foam inserts. This display has a more modern look and feel.
